What one needs of course if the ability to open a terminal on any screen one is working on but OSX just does not work like that. Luckily, applescript has some nice UI interaction features which make this kind of thing, and much more ambitious solutions, very achievable. Here is the script I came up with. I found the basic idea on a forum but added the check to see if terminal is running; if you do not, you get two terminals instead of one.
